Cats and humans have fraternized for at least eight thousand years, and it's quite possible that by the time of the fabled hanging gardens of Babylon, the connection between laboring gardeners and lounging felines had been firmly established. The cat knows full well that its empire encompasses a flower bed, a rattan chair, and a stepping-stone warmed by the sun. For this calendar, photographer Del Greger captured twelve imperial cats in their well-manicured domains; each month includes an appropriate quotation in appreciation of cats.
